Summer Haul!!

Hello readers!

Now it’s finally August and the weather here seems to be returning to typical English weather, I thought it’d be a good time to post about my new and favourite items of summer 2016.

So I’ll start with my go to tanning product which is L’oreal paris, sublime bronze summer glow lotion gradual tan. I love love love this because it’s so subtle and gradual that it truly looks like a real tan. I personally don’t go for a complete fake tan as they are so drying for the skin, ruin clothes and can look streaky and green if not applied properly, yuk! The L’oreal gradual tan smells and feels lovely. Apply daily until you reach an amount of tan you’re happy with. I’d definitely recommend this product if you’re looking for a tan that looks real, without having to go abroad or use sun beds which can be so so harmful for the skin. I use the shade medium tan, if you were wondering. Price = £4.66 at Boots.

The second product I’ve been super into this summer is Milani’s baked blush in Luminoso. It’s a beautiful dusky peachy pink shade which I use as not only a blush but a highlighter on a day I don’t want to go for the full highlighted look and just want a bit of a glow. It comes with an applicator brush but I don’t use it, instead i use my real techniques blusher brush. What’s great about this blush is that it looks just as good whether you apply a little or a lot and you can choose to do either depending on the look you’re going for. Price = £8.45 at Amazon.

Other than my Mac lipsticks, one of the only other lip products I’ve used regularly is Bourjois velvet rouge edition matte liquid lipstick in ‘Don’t pink of it!’. The consistency doesn’t feel drying on the lips and has a reasonable staying power, although I usually apply a couple of times throughout the day. ‘Don’t pink of it!’ is a muted pink shade with blue undertones which is perfect for summer and isn’t too deep for the day time. It smells amazing, I’m always so tempted to eat it… (I wouldn’t suggest doing so though). There are so many other shades and I’m pretty sure I’ll try some of them out. £8.99 at Boots.

My 2016 summer eye shadow palette has been The Nudes by Maybelline. It’s taken me so long to find the perfect nude eye palette which has all the shades I want but I finally found it in this Maybelline palette. There are some glittery and some none glittery shades which really appeals to me because I can use it for loads of occasions. It has whites, blacks, golds, various shades of browns, peachy nudes and the list goes on. I’d really recommend this palette because it really does have everything nude you need and it’s also affordable. With so many expensive eye palettes out there, we tend to forget about the high street brand ones and this summer I’ve learnt what a mistake that is. Price £7.99 at Boots (reduced from £9.99!).

If you’re more into loose eye shadows, I have two pigmented ones which I’ve loved to use this summer too. Dazzle dust by Barry M, shade 27 and Lily Lolo mineral eye shadow in Pink Champagne. I usually go for eye palettes rather than pigmented shadows but with these two pretty shades I couldn’t resist. I love the gold glimmer the Barry M one has and I seriously was craving a pink colour for my eyes since my palettes don’t have pinks. I like the pair the Lily Lolo one with a deep brown in the crease of my eye lid and the Barry M one with a light nude. I apply with my real techniques detail brush. Lily Lolo price = £5.99 at Lily Lolo mineral cosmetics. Barry M Price= £4.59 at Superdrug.

You’re never fully dressed without your brows! – the final product I have fallen in love with this summer is Maybellines master brow pro palette. In 2016, brows have never been more important and I cannot go wrong with this item in my makeup bag! I have tried so many pro products from gel to power to pencils in a copious amount of shades and I’ve always been a little bit disappointed. But Maybellines pro palette includes a brown wax to apply to the brows to keep all the hairs in place and then a powder to put on top of that. It also includes a peachy nude powder to apply under the brow for more definition. It stays on all day and it kind of tough to remove in all honesty but for me that’s a good thing. The brow brush it comes with is also perfectly good to use. I use the shade ‘deep brown’ and its also super affordable. Price = £6.99 at Boots.
