A week in Malta

Hi everyone, you may have noticed I haven’t made a post in just over a week. I’m sorry about that & I’ve missed blogging loads. The reason is that I’ve been on holiday to Malta, but now I’m back to tell you all about it!
So the ‘travel’ section is new on my blog and I’m hoping you all enjoy it. I’ve seen a lot of people post about travel and I’ve really enjoyed them so I thought I’d give it a go.

For November, the weather was great. However, with Malta being a pretty small island surrounded by sea, it got very windy. We stayed in a place called Bugibba (pictured below), which is at the top of Malta. It’s really pretty with a lovely coastline with some bars and restaurants dotted around. Bugibba is relatively quiet in comparison to the capital Valletta and ‘party capital’ St Julians Bay. For me, this was perfect because I’m really not a massive party person. I’d much rather chill in a bar with a cocktail than go out getting beyond drunk in a club.

 

With Malta being small, we got to see quite a few of the main places using a weekly bus pass which is well worth the price of 21 Euros.
The first place we visited was Valletta, the capital. On the day we went a marathon was in action and the president was visiting the centre, so it was super busy but such a great experience. Valletta is where you find shops you’ll know such as Tommy Hilfiger, Fred Perry, Dorothy Perkins and a lot more!
Another day we got the bus to St Julians. The coastal area is similar to Bugibba, beaches and bars. There is a sort of strip of clubs which typically draws in younger travelers too. I really enjoyed St Julians, it is very picturesque. There is a ‘cat village’ located here, a place full of cuddly toys and cat beds for abandoned homeless cats. Seeing it is upsetting, especially if, like me, you love cats. We put some donations in the box which will be used to buy food for these cats which was a little comforting.

A half hour ferry took us over to the island of Gozo, which has a population of 37,000 people. Which does sound like a lot when you hear that figure but it’s actually really small.
There isn’t much to do in Gozo, but it was worth the trip to see the place. We went to a bakery for some lunch and stopped at a bar for a drink then headed back.
On one of our last days in Malta we took the bus to Mdina, which in my opinion was the prettiest place we went too. I loved the high walls that surround the village and the views from up at Mdina are really amazing. We walked around the streets which are much like a castle and stopped at a beautiful tea room.

Over all I had a really lovely time and it was so nice to get away from all the Uni work I have going on at the minute and just relax! Thanks for reading 🙂
