Blogmas day 21: Christmas lipsticks

Lipsticks are the perfect way to show the Christmas spirit through your outfit. I’ve picked a few choice ones which I think are absolutely perfect for this time of year. I’ll include the picture of all of the products mentioned swatched below. (Featured Image)

Diva by Mac

I’ve been wearing the hell out of this lipstick this month! I’m really keen on a dark lip for the colder months and this is my perfect matte deep red. It stays on for a very long time too. I usually carry my concealer around with me in my hand bag when I wear this shade though – Sometimes you can get a little smudge when eating!

L’oreal Color Riche number 461 Scarlett Creme

This is my go to ‘true red’. I have had this lipstick for a very long time and I am finally running low. It only comes out of my bag at Christmas time but I do think it really works well. It has a beautiful satin finish, very pigmented and feels really soft on the lips. A really great choice if you’re looking for a standard true red.

Max Factor Colour Elixir Mulberry

I really adore this lipstick! It’s a red with slight purple/plum undertones (although not as much as L’oreal Plum Gold) that adds a touch of shimmer on the lips which is lovely for Christmas. Although this lipstick is actually one of my faves all year round and I am surprised I haven’t mentioned it before on my blog. It lasts all day, but needs touching up a bit after eating, but I find that with most lipsticks that aren’t a matte finish.

L’oreal Color Riche Plum Gold obsession

I have a whole review on this lipstick which you can see here. This is quite a new lipstick that a lot of people spoke about in Autumn. I wore it a lot then, and, although I think it is the perfect lipstick for Autumn (as it is a gorgeous purple-red), I think it works well over Christmas too! I love the little specs of gold in there which really make the lips ‘pop’, but also aren’t too overpowering.

Velvet Teddy by Mac

As well as red shades, I love a good nude at this time of the year! Christmas is a great time to bring out the darker, more brown toned, nudes. I love Velvet Teddy all through the year but have been wearing it a little more recently. This lipstick stays put all day and despite being matte, it has a creamy formula that doesn’t dry out the lips.

Flat out fabulous by Mac

This beautiful colour is the from the ‘retro matte’ range at Mac. And no Christmas lipstick list would be complete without the addition of a bright pink! I tend to wear these types of colours more in Summer but I know a lot of people like a bright pink around Christmas and I think they can work really well on the more brisk Winter days. This is my favourite bright pink as it is a very stereotypical, almost neon, pink with purple hints to it. Plus, as you can probably tell, I’m a sucker for a matte Mac lipstick. However, this shade can be a little more drying than the others on the list so just make sure you scrub your lips before applying and you’ll be good to go!

Love the different colors but the scarlet creme is definitely my favorite! You shouldn’t only wear it with Christmas, but all year round.. You can never have too red lipstick 🙂
