Zoeva Cocoa Blend eye-shadow palette review & swatches

Hi guys,
you will probably be aware of my new addiction to the Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette. I wanted this palette for so long before I received it as a gift from my boyfriend. I had heard so many good things about the quality of Zoeva eye-shadows and the shade range in this particular palette looked amazing as you can create simple day looks and night time, more glam, looks. I have already posted one look using the gorgeous pink shade in the palette, which you can see here.

The Packaging
I think the simple and sleek gold and brown packaging is perfect. The palette comes in a cardboard sleeve which is identical to the palette itself. The look of this replicates a chocolate bar which is super clever considering this is the ‘cocoa blend’ palette. This will be perfect for travelling with as the palette is really thin so will easily slip into a case etc.

The Claims
On the back of the palette it states that there is ‘no parabens, no mineral oils, no fragrances, and no phthalates’. This leads me to believe that these shadows would be great for someone with sensitive skin. The packaging also reads ‘superior pigmentation and easy to blend’. I have to say, since using this I definitely agree.

Review
These shadows are some of the best that I have tried. They equally match the quality of the shadows in the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. They are very creamy and each shade blends out super easily and quickly. The only two shades that I have experiences fall out / kick back with are ‘warm notes’ and ‘delicate acidity’ (pink and lilac shimmer shades). The pigmentation is unbelievable. A little dab in any of these colours is enough!

Swatches

Bitter Start is the cream shade in the palette and honestly it is one my favourites in there. It sets my eye perfectly ready for any other shadows. The reason I love it so much is because it is really pale without it being stark white. The undertones are pinky and it looks smooth on the lid.

Sweeter End is a very light mauve sheen in the pan but comes off slightly more peachy than you would expect. It isn’t a shimmer but it’s perfect for when you want to bring a little bit more life to your eye as it is a subtle sheen. It’s good to use all over the lid for a day look.

Warm Notes is a beautiful creamy vibrant pink shade. The colour pay off on this, as you can see in the swatch, is excellent and it comes off very similar with a brush on the eye.

Subtle Blend is a deep golden bronze shade. I haven’t played around with this one as much as all the other shades, however, it acts in a very similar way to Warm Notes, and all the other shimmers in the palette for that matter. Creamy, pigmented and easily blendable.

Beans Are White is a brown so deep that it is almost black. I love this shade to deepen up the outer corner as sometimes a pure black can be too much. This looks perfect blended out as a substitute for eyeliner.

Pure Ganache looks like gold glitter and is absolutely stunning on the lid! Of all the shimmer in the palette, this one is my favourite because you barely have to touch it and the colour pay off is intense.

Substitute For Love is a pale warm toned brown which is a perfect transition shade. Almost every look I’ve done using this palette has consisted of this shade dusted in the crease. This blends out amazingly, one of the best in the palette.

Freshly Toasted is another shade which is perfect for a daily look. I like to place Substitute For Love in the crease and then Freshly Toasted more precisely in the crease and the outer corner. It is a warm, red toned brown.

Infusion is a black shade with flecks of gold glitter. I love this shade for a night time intense smokey eye. Unlike a lot of shades which have glitter on them, some of the glitter actually transfers onto the eye – not as much as in the pan but you can still see it.

Delicate Acidity has the most fall out in the palette. However the quality of the lilac is worth it. You may or may not have heard that purple is one of the hardest eye shadow colours to create, but Zoeva have definitely done it right.
