I’ve been super busy over the last couple of days as I have been moving all my stuff up to University and then I had my first lecture yesterday. So this post is a day late as by the
time I had enough free time, it was far too dark to take any pictures.. so I hope you’ll forgive me for the absence of presence here on my blog just lately. However, I am back in full force now.
Today I have a unusual post for you. I was looking through my makeup stash and realised I have quite a few lipsticks that I bought at some point but honestly NEVER reach for, for some reason or another. I hope you enjoy this post and maybe it will stop you from purchasing another lipstick you don’t need..
These lipsticks are all ones that didn’t work for me. You may have a different opinion on them and that’s fine! 🙂
L’oreal Color Riche, 646 Eva – £6.99
I bought this after watching a video of Emily Canham on YouTube a while back. She was showing her extensive collection of L’oreal lipsticks and they all looked so beautiful. I went straight on the Superdrug website an purchased this pinky/nude colour. On the website, the pink looks stunning, it looks dusty and muted in my eyes. However, when it got here, it was a much brighter pale pink than I expected. And although this lipstick is meant to suit ‘all skin tones’, it makes me look ill and doesn’t suit me at all.
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss, 45 – £5.49
The colour of this lipstick is seriously lovely! It’s the dusty muted pinky nude I dreamed of when I ordered the L’oreal lipstick I’ve just spoken about. Unfortunately though, it has no staying power.. I don’t mind re-applying my lip colour a couple of times throughout the day but I just couldn’t keep up with this. It’s such a shame.
I can’t be 100% sure of the shade name on this one as it isn’t on the tube, however going by google it’s called Pomegranate. I think this lipstick is a lovely colour, it’s a bright pink with slight purple undertones. It has a nice satin matte finish too! However, it does smudge very easily so you have to be super careful when wearing this, which means I don’t usually bother wearing it! I have a similar colour to this from MAC, so normally I’d stick with that! I found this lipstick for 99p on Fragrance Direct, I’m unsure how much it was when I bought it a few months back in Body Care, but it was around the £2 mark.
Maybelline Color Sensational, Stellar Pink 150 – £6.99
On my lips, this is quite a similar colour to the L’oreal lipstick I’ve already spoken about. However, it has a definite shimmer to it and a brighter pink shade. I just don’t like the shimmer finish of this lipstick and I’m unsure why I ever purchased this given the fact I’m not even keen on the swatch.. It’s just not to my taste!
Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip, Latte To Go 710 – £5.99
I’ve recently spoke about this on my Products I regret buying post, so I won’t go into too much detail. However, although I love the colour of this lipstick, it does not go on the lips nicely at all in my opinion – I just can’t get it to work! It’s very streaky and settles into every line.
L’oreal Color Riche Gold Obsession, Plum Gold – £6.99
Now this lipstick I actually really like and can’t find fault with! I just don’t find myself reaching for it. I bought it around this time last year and wore it a little when I first got it and it looks lovely on the lips and is perfect for the upcoming months. I even love the little gold glitters in it. Maybe I should try to remember to wear this more, or maybe it just isn’t my colour.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet, Don’t pink of it! 10 – £8.49
Another lipstick that I actually like but don’t seem to reach for.. I would describe this as a sort of mousse like texture which drys down to a ‘velvet’ matte finish. It’s a formula that I wouldn’t normally go for despite not minding, which is why I probably don’t wear this very much. The colour is a rosy dusty pink which is very similar to MAC’s Please Me which I wear quite a lot. Maybe if I didn’t own Please Me, I would wear this a little more.
That;s all! Do you own any of these lipsticks, what’s your opinion of them? Do you love them? Or do you find yourself overlooking them in your collection too!? Let me know in the comments below.
