Sample Wednesday: Mac False Lash Extreme Black Mascara

Hi everyone!
Today I’m back with the second installment of Sample Wednesday. I was so pleased a lot of you said you enjoyed my first post in this series. Today I’m going to do a little review of the Mac False Lash Extreme Black mascara! I have used up one of these before and I am half way through my second sample of this so I think I have enough experience of it to give you a decent review. So just keep on reading if you’re interested.

Mac mascara 1

Overview & Claims
This mascara claims to be flake and smudge proof, volumizing (by 75%!), curling, long wearing, lash separating and lengthening. These are quite the claims, so I was expecting great things from this mascara the first time I tried it. The formula is supposed to be a mousse like texture.
The wand is very fat (as you can see from the pictures) which is great for me, but is definitely a personal preference. Usually fat wands give a lot of volume.
The full size costs £19.50 and for that you will get 8g of product.

Review
I have really enjoyed using this mascara, particularly on my lower lashes, so that is mostly how I have been using this one up. I have found most of the claims to be accurate. For example, this mascara has definitely been flake and smudge proof! I often have trouble with mascara’s smudging under my eye, but with this one I never do. Whenever I have wore this on my upper lashes too, It has definitely separated my lashes and lengthened them, however this can sometimes leave my lashes looking ‘straggly’, you may be able to tell this from the picture below. I can’t say much for the curling as I always curl my lashes with a curler beforehand. I think this mascara does volumize to a certain extent, but not as much as I would have hoped for, given the ‘false lash’ name of the mascara and the fat wand. I have tried others which are better for volumizing. I do find it to be long wearing so this is a good mascara to choose if you have a long day ahead.

Mac Mascara

All in all I believe this mascara to be a decent choice, so long as you are not looking for maximum volume. If you want something that won’t clump your lashes together and will give you length, then I would say you might like this one.
However, since I love my Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, which is almost half the price of this one, I don’t think I will be purchasing this in the full size.

I hope you enjoyed this review and found it somewhat helpful. Feel free to leave a comment below. Have you tried this mascara? What do you think of it?

Jazmin xx

I have seen these little samples being sold on ebay before; I haven’t bough one before though because I worry they are fakes :/. Where did you get yours from? I prefer to use mini products because I get bored easily :). Good review! 🙂
