Recently I have seen so much hype surrounding the Maybelline Superstay foundation. So many people are loving it, so I thought a review on this product could be beneficial for some of you! I bought this foundation after a friend recommended it to me, and since it was actually on offer in Superdrug, I couldn’t say no to trying it out.
Overview & Claims
The shade range for this Maybelline Superstay 24h foundation looks quite good online. There are both pale and dark shades to choose from. I have heard that the shade range differs in different countries, so I can only comment on the range we have here in the UK!
For £9.99 you get the standard 30ml. This is super affordable. If this foundation is as good as people are saying.. it’s definitely worth it!
The packaging is great. Glass bottle with a pump.. you can’t ask for more!
This foundation claims to ‘completely correct visible flaws and imperfections, making it the perfect base for hi-impact make-up looks.’ It is suitable for all skin types and will provide a soft matte finish. This is also supposed to be full coverage and last for 24 hours.
My application of choice is the Real Techniques buffer brush. I apply a layer all over my face. I usually add a little extra in areas I feel need it. The foundation is definitely buildable. It will provide a full coverage finish when you have a decent layer on the face.
I wouldn’t say this is ‘cakey’ at all, but it can stick to dry patches, so if you have a problem with that, then bare this in mind. Maybelline claim that this foundation is for all skin types, and I have heard a lot of hype that says this is really good for oily skin. I personally have drier skin. When using this foundation, I do tend to exfoliate beforehand so as to avoid accentuating dry patches.
This foundation definitely dries darker than it is when it’s first applied. You can see this in the picture. I would recommend getting a shade lighter than you normally would. This is exactly what I did! I have the shade 05 light beige.
The foundation lasts all really well on my skin! I like to set it with powder because if I don’t I can get a little shiny throughout the day. For me, powder sorts this out! This is actually a foundation that I feel looks better on the skin after you have had it on for an hour or so. It sinks into the skin better and looks more like real skin. I do find that for the first hour it can look a little flat and dull on the skin. But trust me, it gets better!
All in all, I absolutely recommend this foundation. It’s so affordable, and I’ve actually been choosing it over my Kat Von D Lock It!
This is a great drugstore foundation with high, long lasting coverage. It dries a little darker than it is in the bottle and looks better after its been on the face around an hour. Good for all skin types, but would be more wary if you have dry patches.
I really hope you have found this review helpful. Let me know in the comments below if you have tried this foundation & what you think of it!
