Today I wanted to review a product which I’ve had for a while, but I really don’t seem to hear many people talking about it! It’s the Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer, and I have the shade ‘Unreal’. If you want to see my thoughts on this drugstore lip product, then just keep reading.
Maybelline describe this as a high-impact lip gloss with an ultra shiny finish. Opaque colour melts onto the lips for your most impactful lip look yet.
There are 12 shades on the Maybelline website and each cost £7.99.
As I mentioned, I have the shade ‘Unreal’ which on me is a deep nude brown colour – with a slight rosy undertone.
The packaging is a sturdy plastic, and the applicator is sponge with a little dip in the middle to hold a good amount of product for application. If you have used Maybelline Superstay matte ink, then the applicator is identical to that!
I really like having this colour lip product in my makeup collection. I have a number of paler nudes, so having this darker, almost brown one, is great!
The real star quality of this product though, is the formula/finish. I would definitely say that it is high shine, ultra glossy. Yet, unlike many regular lip glosses, it is insanely pigmented. One swipe of this is enough for intense colour. The formula is also super comfortable to wear, and it isn’t very sticky either – It just feels nice and smooth on the lips.
I found that this lacquer lasts well on my lips, specially compared to other glosses which come off easily! I have to top it up after eating, but that is to be expected.
The only negative is the smell.. I can’t even explain what it smells like, but to me it just isn’t nice at all. However, once I’ve had it on for 5 minutes, I can’t smell it anymore, so it is easily bearable, and isn’t enough to put me off.
Over all I would say that this Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer is definitely worth the money if you’re looking for a pigmented high shine gloss.
I have done a lil bit of research, and from all I can tell these Maybelline Lacquers seem to be incredibly similar to the Too Faced Melted Latex lipsticks! Maybe we found a dupe?!
What do you think? Have you tried these out, or do you plan on doing? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
