Hey everyone, it’s been quite a while since I did a sample Wednesday post here on my blog hasn’t it? I really need to do these posts more because I have so many samples of different products just waiting to be tested! I love these kind of ‘first impressions’ posts to give me some insight on products, so I hope you guys enjoy them too. Today I’m going to do a mini review of the Clinique high impact lash elevating mascara which has been sitting in my collection untouched for a little while now. I finally got round to using it & wanted to share the outcome with you all. So if you’re interested just keep reading.
Overview
The full size of this high impact mascara will cost you £19.50, which really is a good price in comparison to other high end brands, and definitely a price I would be happy to pay if the mascara performs.
Clinique describe this mascara as a ‘gentle, long wearing mascara’ which is formulated with mamey seed oil. Thanks to the curling polymer, this mascara leaves the lashes curled for 12 hours. It has a ‘lightweight, mousse-like, smudge-resistant formula that will not clump or flake.’ Clinique say that this mascara is ‘ophthalmologist tested so even sensitive eyes look bigger, brighter, and boosted.’
They do say that the formula has a lot of staying power and suggest either the Clinique Take Off The Day Cleansing Balm or the Take Off The Day Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes & Lips.
The packaging is pretty basic looking, but pretty sleek. Most of Clinique’s products have simple packaging which lets the products speak for themselves. The wand is tapered with synthetic bristles.
Review
The first thing I noticed was the wand of the high impact mascara. I really do much prefer synthetic bristle brushes as opposed to plastic ones. I like that this is a tapered brush too as it really allows you to get to the root of the lashes and coat every last lash. So the applicator is definitely a winner for me.
I always curl my lashes before applying any mascara. After doing so I went in with a first coat. This mascara really gave my lashes volume & definitely lifted them nicely. I noticed the formula is definitely mousse-like, as Clinique said. After a second coat of mascara my lashes had so much more volume than usual, and some extra length too! My lashes aren’t super long naturally, so I need all the help I can get from mascara. I was pleased with the results of this one as my lashes looked voluminous but not clumpy, and they remained separated!
Throughout the day the mascara didn’t smudge or flake as promised by Clinique. The most impressive part though was the fact that my lashes truly remained curled all day long! Usually, my lashes end up dropping after a while, but this mascara did not weigh them down at all and held them in place perfectly.
When it came to removing this mascara, it was a little difficult. However, as long as you are gentle it will come off. It’s definitely not as bad as the L’oreal Miss Baby Roll..
Overall, I really love this mascara & I’ll definitely be purchasing the full size when I next purchase a mascara! I’d definitely recommend this one if you are looking for volume or curling!

I really like this mascara! I usually go for volumising ones thought this one did a good job. I’ve tried the sample and a full sized and I actually found the sample size one to be a lot better than the full sized one? Maybe I just got a bad tube but I was a bit disappointed in the bigger one x

Oh no really!? That’s such a shame if the bigger ones aren’t as good xx

Thank you! I think Clinique is a fab brand x
I’ve not tried this mascara but I know Clinique have a great reputation for effective yet gentle eye care products. And I’m intrigued by a mousse-like texture too. That’s pretty amazing it kept your lashes curled all day, definitely a unicorn product 🙂 Lisa x
