Hi everyone, how have you all been? I hope you’re all loving Autumn as much as me. Today I want to share with you my favourite affordable products for a full face. I have been reviewing & speaking a lot about higher end products here on my blog a lot lately, so I thought it was about time I spoke about some amazing options from the drugstore that I use frequently and absolutely love. If you want to discover some affordable bits, keep reading!
E.L.F Hydrating Primer (£7.50)
If you’re looking for a great affordable primer and you don’t have oily skin, then I’d recommend checking this one out. It creates a smooth yet hydrated base. It does have a silicone feel to it, which I know some people dislike, and if you do have oily skin I imagine this will have just a bit too much slip to it. I like this under matte foundations so that my skin doesn’t look too dry.
L’oreal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation (£10.99)
If you regularly read my blog posts, then you’ll know that this is currently one of my favourite foundations… & it just so happens to be at an affordable price. So of course, I had to choose this one for the post. This one looks so natural & fresh on the skin, whilst also letting you achieve a full coverage. I believe this would be great for all skin types as it remains looking the same from when I first apply to the end of the day. It doesn’t stick to dry patches at all, and it doesn’t go oily either (which despite having a drier skin some foundations can go oily in my T-zone). I’d definitely recommend this one!
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (£4.19) & Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (£5.99)
I know I’ve picked two affordable concealers, but I often use a mixture of a couple when doing my makeup. The Collection one is a super popular one & has been for a long time. It is so affordable & gives you a great amount of coverage! I also use this one as an eyelid primer, and it does a fab job. The Maybelline concealer is the more creamy of the two, it feels more hydrating under the eyes and it blends out super easily. I tend to apply the Maybelline one in areas all over the face such as under the eyes, down the nose and on the chin; and then I go in with the Collection one to add additional coverage on blemishes & on the darker areas under my eyes. I love both of these & they’re both amazing affordable options from the drugstore.
Maybelline Master Brow Pro Palette (£8.99)
I’ll be honest, I rarely reach for this brow palette anymore as I almost always use the Benefit brow zings now. However, for a long time I used this daily, and I can say for certain that it’s one of my favourite options for brows from the drugstore. In fact, it’s actually very similar to the brow zings – you get a brow wax & powder, and a highlighting powder for the brow bone, along with a little brush for application. This palette is very simple to use, and the wax & powder are both really pigmented. It lasts quite a long time in the brows. I do wish that this was available in more shades, but if one of the shades work for you, then I’d definitely recommend trying this out.
Revolution Reloaded Provocative Eyeshadow Palette (£4)
I could have included any of the Revolution eyeshadow palettes I have in this post. Revolution honestly make the absolute best affordable eyeshadows in my opinion. They are pigmented, blendable & stunning! I chose this one as I’ve been reaching for it a lot at the minute, and I am obsessed with the pinks! I love how easy it is to just blend out 1 0r 2 pink shadows on the lid and you’re good to go. The shimmer shades from Revolution can be a little hit or miss, but mostly they are good, and at £4 a palette, I don’t mind if I get a dud in there.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara (£8.99)
This is my favourite mascara full stop, not only in the affordable world. I love that it gives me everything – length, volume & curl. There really isn’t much more to say, just that this is my ideal mascara & you should definitely try it.
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder (£3.99)
An oldie but a goodie! In terms of affordable powders, I have always found pressed powders to be best. I have tried a few & this Rimmel one has always stayed top of my list. It leaves my skin looking smooth & sets my makeup into place without making it look dry or too flat. I’m not a huge powder lover in general considering my skin is more on the dry side, but I do need a powder for my T-zone. This can make me pretty fussy with powders. But I genuinely think this is a fab option & it’s super affordable.
Rimmel Sculpting Palette by Kate (£6.99)
I have used this palette for the contour powder for a while now, and I STILL haven’t hit pan. I love the tone of this powder as it isn’t too warm or too cool, it’s just right for my preference. The powder is really pigmented, and you do have to be careful not to add too much at a time otherwise it can get just a little muddy. But once you learn how to work with this powder, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! I do like the highlighter in this palette too, it is ever so slightly too dark for me, so I can only use it when I’m a little tanned, but when I am, it looks beautiful – glowy & pigmented.
L’oreal Glam Bronze Duo Bronzer (£8.99)
So I didn’t actually realise that this bronzer seems to have been changed / discontinued, which is a shame as I love how buttery and blendable this one it. It goes on like a dream, it doesn’t get muddy or orange. It simply warms my face up. I haven’t found many affordable bronzers that I love – in truth I haven’t tried many lately as I sort of gave up. As you can see, I have used this one a lot. I have linked a L’oreal bronzer, ‘Back to Bronze’ which is in the same packaging as my one, minus the highlight, which in truth isn’t all that great anyway. I’m hoping it’s similar, I’ll definitely pick it up and let you know!
Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Lovely Pink (£8.99)
If you’re looking for an affordable blusher, Max Factor have quite a nice selection! I have had this light pink one for a while now and I always go back to it. It’s just the right amount of pigmented, it has enough colour to blush up the face, but it won’t have you looking silly either. As much as I enjoy matte blushers, I like to have some in my collection that have a bit of a sheen, as this one does. I know £8.99 is actually quite a high price for an affordable blusher, but it’s my favourite drugstore range at the moment.
Revolution x Soph Highlighter Palette (£8)
If you read my blog, you’ll already know how much I love this highlight palette – these are probably my most used highlights. There are 3 shades in here that I can’t use much of as I am too pale, however I do utilise them on my eyes from time to time, and it means that this palette can work for a wide range of skin tones. These highlights give so much glow without looking powdery. £8 for 8 shades is absolutely crazy for the quality of these and I massively recommend picking this palette up.
NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner (£4) & NYX Suede Matte Lipstick (£8)
I love NYX lip products and you can really find whatever you want in their ranges as they have a bit of everything at an affordable price. I really like the ‘Suede’ products as they produce a lovely comfortable yet long wearing lip look. The liner in the pictures is in the shade ‘Soft-Spoken’ and the lipstick is ‘Violet Smoke’. I love my purple tones, but they have plenty other shades if these ones aren’t for you!
So this was quite a long post, but I hope you may discover some amazing affordable products following on from reading this one. Let me know in the comments below if you are interested in any of these, or if you have tried them already!
