Hey everyone, how are you doing? Things are pretty crazy here due to Coronavirus & I’m sure they likely are where you are too! Stay safe everyone. So, if you read my last post you will know that I fairly recently received a bunch of products from work training days / conferences. I shared with you all the new skincare I have been testing, and in this post I’m going to speak about the makeup items. So if you want to discover my first impressions of these products then just keep reading, and if you fancy reading a full review of anything I mention, please leave a comment below!
Too Faced Fruit Cocktail Blush Duo in Berries & Bubbly – £25
I’ve been eyeing up this beautiful blush duo from Too Faced for a while now. It’s a product which is exclusive to Boots and I’ve been dying to get my hands on it. I chose the Berries & Bubbly shade as I find it to be the most wearable from the collection. I love the peachy pink shades. Both the blush and highlight look stunning on the skin. The highlight stays on so well – better than most other ones I’ve tried. It creates a pretty sheen with added glitter. The blush is the perfect amount of pigmented; not too much to the point it goes patchy/muddy, but enough that you don’t have to layer it up forever. This little duo is going to be ideal to travel with. Once again Too Faced have impressed me.
Benefit Dandelion Twinkle Mini – £14.50
Benefit have so many powders including bronzer, blush & highlight that come in these boxes & everything I have tried has been great. I decided to choose this mini Dandelion Twinkle when it came to product allocation time at work. This one is a more subtle highlight thats a very light pink. I have actually been preferring to use this as a blush topper as opposed to a highlighter, as I do prefer something a little more intense for highlight. I like this product, but I don’t think I NEEDED it in my makeup collection. It is pretty though & if you love a subtle highlight/glow then this one is for you.
Clinique Even Better Glow Foundation – £28.50
An unusual choice in foundation for me. I am usually a full coverage kind of girl, so going for this light coverage foundation is probably a bit of a shock. However, my colleague wore this a while back and it looked so stunning on her skin, so I decided to go for it. I am really enjoying this so far! It builds up to more of a medium coverage, which is more than I expected. It evens out skin tone and makes my skin look healthier. It has a dewy luminous finish which is perfect for my drier skin. If you don’t like to look like you are wearing a ton of makeup, but you do want to look put together, then I recommend trying this out. I can see this being a go to in summer.
Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fussy – £17
I have been meaning to try out the Fenty Gloss Bomb’s for a while now considering they are the brands best seller. I was torn between the pink shade Fussy (which I went for) or the peachy nude shade Fenty Glow. Both are beautiful. I can see why this gloss is one of the most popular ones at the moment – it is thick without being sticky, and makes the lips looks extra glossy and full. I can easily throw this on alone, or add it on top of any lipstick. I’m pretty obsessed with gloss at the moment, so this is a perfect addition to my makeup collection.
Huda Beauty Nude Obsessions Rich Palette – £27
I was so pleased to see this little Huda Beauty palette in a recent conference goodie bag! I hadn’t tried any Huda eye shadows before this, so I was excited to see what all the hype is about. I have to say, the quality of these shadows is insane. They are all so creamy and buttery and go on like a dream. The mattes blend seamlessly and the shimmers really pack a punch. You can’t create a massive amount of looks with this palette, but I do like the colour story and the looks I can create are right up my street.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter – £28
Becca is such a beautiful brand that have some amazing products, that I feel should be spoken about more! I chose to get this glow primer as my skin is quite dry and sometimes lacks radiance. This is definitely one of my favourite makeup products that’s new to my collection. It gives my skin a beautiful glow that shines through my foundation and makes anything look that bit more radiant. It doesn’t add actual hydration, just the appearance of hydrated skin, so be sure to use a moisturiser etc as well as this if you do get it. This has left me wanting to try even more from Becca.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter Mini in Champagne Pop (£30 for full size)
So I finally got to try Champagne Pop highlighter! This one is so hyped it’s crazy. Becca highlighting products are stunning – the skin perfector’s contain real crushed pearls for that high shine finish. Champagne pop is a golden shade – if I had got to choose my own shade I probably would have chosen something a little more pink or lighter. Although this one doesn’t look too dark on my skin and I can avoid that ‘stripy’ look, gold highlighters are never my fave. The formula is amazing though; so creamy and glowy. If you want glow makeup, Becca is the brand to go for!
bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Stick Foundation – £29
I haven’t used a stick foundation prior to this, so I was excited to receive this to try out! I know it’s a foundation that looks lovely on so many people. I applied this to an older lady at work and it looks so good on her! I love how smooth and flawless this makes my skin look – it is a medium buildable coverage but has a way of really making the skin look perfect. I was shocked! It is definitely very emollient, and I don’t think someone with very oily skin would like it as it has a definite slip to it – I have to set my entire face which is something I don’t always do. It doesn’t last ALL day, but it lasts enough to wear it out for a good few hours.
Smashbox Always On Cream to Matte Lipstick in Stepping Out – £19
A new lipstick release from Smashbox will always catch my attention. These cream to matte bullet lipsticks recently launched and the shades all look beautiful; I had a hard time choosing just one. I went with a deeper nude ‘Stepping Out’. It glides on so smoothly, then sets to a full matte finish pretty quickly. After that it doesn’t budge at all. They aren’t drying, but after a few hours they do look drier on the lips, but I do find this to be the case with most matte lipsticks. I like to add a gloss on top of this after it’s been on for a while to bring the lips back to life. If you try one of these out, make sure the lid clicks shut each time you close it otherwise they can dry out pretty bad.
That’s everything for this post! I have more makeup items to talk about sometime soon, but these are the products I’ve gotten round to using so far. Have you tried any of these products? Let me know your thoughts below!
Thanks so much for reading,
Jazmin xx
