Hey everyone, hope you’re well. Today I asked my boyfriend Michael to choose which products I used to do my makeup. I thought it would be a bit of a fun post, and maybe get me to use some things in my collection that I haven’t reached for in a while. If you want to see what he chose, and how the look turned out then just keep reading!
PRIMER – ARK Skincare SkinEssential SPF30 Primer (£36)
The first thing he chose was my primer, I have a lot of primers in my collection but he happened to choose one of my latest additions. This one was actually #gifted not too long ago by the brand, and I spoke about it in detail in my ARK Skincare Review post. This primer was actually a great choice by Michael as it’s currently super sunny so some SPF is definitely a good option.
FOUNDATION – Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation (£33)
For foundation he opted for a high coverage, which I am definitely pleased about since my skin is NOT in the best place after having a break out a few days ago. I love this one, it’s really thick and stays on well, but it isn’t one I could wear on a daily basis as my skin doesn’t love it long term.
CONCEALER – Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (£4.19)
An oldie but a goodie. I still use this one daily, but only to conceal my eyelids before eye shadow. I haven’t used this on my face, and especially not under my eyes for some time, but I used to all the time! It felt weird using it under my eyes as I’m now used to something much more hydrating and creamy, but it has good coverage and does the job well so I can’t complain at this choice!
POWDER – Max Factor Creme Puff Pressed Powder (£7.99)
I don’t own too many powders (about 5) so he didn’t have quite as much to choose from, but I was disappointed by this one. The shade I have is a little bit too dark for me at the moment, specially on top of the Huda foundation which is probably the lightest foundation I own. I haven’t used this one in ages as I much prefer a loose powder now. Thankfully I didn’t need to take this under my eyes thanks to the Collection concealer choice that dries down matte anyway, so I can get away with leaving it.
BROWS – Benefit Brow Zings Palette (£27)
I got very lucky with this choice. I used this Benefit brow palette most days to do my eyebrows, but I also own a lot of terrible brow pencils which I was worried would be selected. Honestly I need to get rid of them, but most of them are barely used so I hold onto them. I love this little wax & powder duo from Benefit. It’s so easy to use.
BRONZER – Benefit Hoola Bronzer Mini (£14.50)
Another Benefit choice by Michael… I love this bronzer, who doesn’t? It’s the perfect shade for me, not too cool and not orange either. I love the pigmentation in this one too – it isn’t too pigmented that it goes muddy, but it definitely builds up nicely and you can achieve a nice bronzer look.
BLUSH – Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop (£18)
This blush is such a pretty one! I don’t use this enough. You have to be careful in application because it’s very pigmented so you can end up looking like a clown pretty easy.. but with a light hand this is stunning. It is a lovely peachy pink shade, ideal for spring.
HIGHLIGHT – Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in Eclipse (£26)
I’m glad he chose a highlighter light enough to get away with on such a light shade of foundation. This is such a pretty champagne glow – it’s quite buildable so you can achieve something fairly subtle or add more for something intense. I think this shade has been discontinued from what I can tell, but there are plenty others so I have still left a link.
EYESHADOW – Colourpop x Kathleen Lights Dream St Palette (discontinued)
I am so sad that this palette has been discontinued as I love using it, so I am glad Michael picked this one out for me. Colourpop make great eye shadows for a really great price, I wish the brand was easier to get hold of here in the UK. The colours in this palette are beautiful – specially the shimmers!
EYELINER – Forencos Tattoo Tint Eyeliner in Daily Brown (£21.32)
I asked Michael if I should use an eyeliner and he said yes, and he chose this brown one from Forencos. I was #gifted this a while back, and it’s my only brown eyeliner. I love having the option of a brown and this one is a perfect shade of brown – not too dark that it looks black but not too light that it looks wishy washy. It stays on all day. It’s not the easiest liner to use, but it’s okay once you get the hang of it. I probably wouldn’t have chosen brown for the eye look I created, but oh well!
MASCARA – Maybelline Lash Sensational (£8.99)
My favourite drugstore mascara! I’m sure he chose this one to be kind, he must know I love it because I repurchase all the time, and I had a few of these in my mascara tray in my makeup draws. I often try new mascaras, high end and drugstore and very few live up to this one. It gives me length, volume and curl. What more could I want?
LIPS – Lime Crime Velvetines Matte Liquid Lipstick in Cupid (£17)
Not a shade I would have chosen to go with the eyeshadow palette but could definitely have been worse. If I want something super matte, these Lime Crime Velvetines are the way to go. I have a bunch of stunning shades from this range! Lately, I’ve been all about gloss, so it felt strange not adding a gloss on top, but Michael said NO to a gloss (unfortunately).
SETTING SPRAY – Morphe Continuous Mist (£16)
I don’t have tonnes of setting sprays in my collection, but this one is definitely my favourite, so I am glad he chose it! It melts the powders into your skin letting your face look fresher and just all together nicer. I love that the spray is continuous and refreshing. This was a nice way to tie the makeup look together!
How do you think he did? I think for the most part he made pretty good decisions!
Thanks for stopping by,
Jazmin xx
He did good! The clinique blush is so pretty, I wonder if they still do them, I haven’t seen them forever in stores

Isn’t it beautiful? Yeah they do still do them! I work at Boots & they’re still sold in the store I’m at anyway! x
I like blush that he picked out. It looks so pretty and it’s definitely perfect shade for spring time. Lovely makeup look. xx

It’s gorgeous isn’t it! Thank you xx
Such a fun post too read and I think your boyfriend actually made some really good choices too! I love the colours for your eyeshadow!

Thanks so much! x
He did really well! All of the products that he picked looked really great on and work really well together. I love the finished look x
Author
He did didn’t he! Thank you x
Haha, I love this idea! I think he did quite well, except the red eye shadow is a bit much more me. But perhaps that’s just me and my simplistic Scandinavian style ;D Very well done, Michael!

Haha, it depends on the day for me! Thank you for reading x
What a fun idea! I might get my boyfriend to do this! Even better, I might get him to DO my make up. What a disaster that’ll be! xxx
Author
hahaha, I would love to see it! Michael did mine a few years back… that’s somewhere in the archives lol x
This sounds like a great way to have a little fun while stuck at home. I mean, he can’t choose WRONG – you only have so many products in your stash (I’m assuming you’re not holding onto products you dislike), however, we all have products that we haven’t touched in far too long.

Very true!! I do kind of need a sort out, but I definitely don’t have anything I absolutely hate! x
I think he did pretty good choosing. The eye shadow is a bit dark but no way my husband would be able to put anything together.
Author
Haha, yeah the eyes & lips don’t work perfectly but deffo could be worse! He’s not too bad x
Looks like your man has been paying attention. He chose some good products, that’s for sure. And you did a beautiful job applying everything! Despite the ones you weren’t sure about or didn’t care for, I still think your makeup turned out beautiful.

Thank you so much! x
Fun post!

Thanks, hope you enjoyed 🙂 x
He did great – much better than my boyfriend would have done (or wanted to do!)
Author
Haha, he’s good for getting involved x
This is a fun idea to experiment with all those products we hoard up and only use occasionally. I love shaking things up and trying something new so I will keep this in mind; I love your brows and eyes. 🙂

Definitely, it’s crazy how much stuff we end up with x
This is such a cute look! The blush looks super cute and I’m so sad to hear that this palette has been discontented because it looks gorgeous- what a fun challenge!
