Hey everyone, I hope you’re all doing well? Given the fact face masks are going to be mandatory in shops as of July 24th, I wanted to share with you which foundations I’ve found to work the best under them. Since I work in retail I have been wearing a face mask since I returned to work about a month ago. This has been plenty time to try out a few different foundations underneath! Of course, you may want to skip makeup all together when wearing a mask, but if like me you’d prefer to have some on, then this post will hopefully be helpful.
I have shortlisted THREE foundation that I have found stay looking nice under a face mask. You’re always going to get some transfer onto the mask – but if you choose a good foundation and also use setting powder (I’ve been loving the Too Faced Born This Way loose powder) and setting spray (Urban Decay All Nighter has worked well for me) then the makeup should continue to look good and not too patchy!
Estée Lauder Double Wear (£34)
Double Wear has been my go to foundation for a long time. If I want something that is going to stay on all day long then I will always choose this one! That’s no different underneath a face mask. Despite some transfer, this foundation remains looking great on the skin and looks as though none has come off. Double Wear never seems to look too dry or too oily on my normal/dry skin, and the face mask doesn’t mess with that either. The semi matte full coverage finish remains looking the same through the day. I like to apply this one with a brush. I would definitely recommend going for this if you are going to be wearing foundation/a mask for a long time.
Huda Beauty #FauxFilter (£33)
Even though Estee Lauder Double Wear is so many peoples favourite, I know that some people aren’t too keen! If that’s you, I think a good option is the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter foundation. Like Double Wear, this foundation stays on really well throughout the day and even when you get some transfer, it doesn’t look smudged or patchy on the skin. It has a matte full cover finish, but it isn’t completely flat or drying in my opinion. I think it looks healthy and fresh on the skin once it has been on for a while and some natural oils come through. I like to apply this one with a brush.
KVD Vegan Beauty Lock It (£29)
Again, Lock It stays on really well under a mask (of course.. otherwise it wouldn’t be in this post!). If you apply a lot of this one, then the transfer will be worse than the other foundations mentioned. It still looks good on the skin, but the best outcome is when you apply a thinner, breathable layer. Despite the fact Lock It can easily achieve a full cover finish, and it marketed that way, it is also more flexible than the other foundation I have mentioned when it comes to coverage. I like to use less foundation and apply with a beauty sponge for a more natural finish that will last all day, even under a mask.
That’s all for today. I hope you’ve found this useful!

Great recommendations! I’ve only ever used the KVD one and didn’t rebuy after my first bottle finished. Currently I’m using the new L’Oreal Infallible 24h Matte Cover foundation and it works SOOOO well with me wearing a mask for a 10 hour shift 5 days a week. I would highly recommend it!

Ah I have tried that one before too (pre masks), but I found it a lil dry for my skin! I love Infallible fresh wear though x
