Using my old favourite makeup products

Hey everyone, how are you? I hope you all have a lovely week this week and are looking forward to Halloween at the weekend. A couple of days ago I decided to do my makeup using lots of my old favourite makeup products. I recently got a little sample of the YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint foundation and it reminded me how much I used to love that foundation and how I haven’t purchased it in a while. It definitely made me want to use some of my old faves, and it gave me the idea for this post. So most of the products featured in this post are ones I used to be so obsessed with, but a couple are just products I haven’t reached for in a while.

EYES
For my eyes I decided to use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism palette. For some reason I haven’t used this one in a while, but when I first got it I used it so much! It’s such amazing quality, probably some of the best shadows in my makeup collection, so I definitely need to remember to use it more. I used shades Eden, Saturn, Parallel and Eternal for the look I created.
For mascara I used the Maybelline Lash Sensational. I still use this one from time to time, and maintain that it’s the best affordable mascara from the drugstore. I used to use this every single day without fail so it’s definitely an old favourite if not a current favourite. It gives me everything: length, volume and curl. Of course I still love it!

For my eyebrows I dug out my old Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. I used to be so in love with this product, and then one day I just stopped using it. As much as this is a nice product (and somehow it hasn’t dried out in all this time!) I just prefer the Benefit powder & wax duo at the moment. I like the look of a more natural brow, which you can definitely achieve with this pomade, but it’s also easy to make them more dramatic looking if you’re not careful! If you want a nice versatile product then this is a good option.
I didn’t have any old products to use for eyeliner, so I just stuck with my regular Benefit Roller Liner!

BASE
Since I was opting for a YSL foundation, I decided to go for the YSL Instant Moisture Glow to prime. This isn’t really an old fave, but it is a product I don’t reach for all that often and haven’t used in a while. It’s a really nice hydrating base to apply foundation onto, and is also slightly blurring too. I don’t know why I tend to choose other primers over this one, because every time I do use this I really enjoy it.

Of course for foundation I used the sample of YSL Touche Eclat Le Teint Foundation that I previously loved. Unsurprisingly, I still adore it! It’s such a nice medium breathable foundation that gives the skin such a healthy glowing appearance, without looking overly dewy or oily. This has everything I could need in a foundation, and after using this sample I’m going to be picking up this foundation again.
To conceal I went for Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer. I haven’t used this one in a long time and I’d half forgotten what I thought of it. If you want a great quality concealer that will provide a medium coverage, semi matte finish then this concealer would be ideal for you. I love the creamy consistency that blends out so easily. I have pretty dark shadows, so this isn’t quite enough coverage for me if I’m going full glam, but if I’m trying to achieve something natural then it’s super lovely. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is going to be a thick full coverage concealer since it’s from the double wear range, it’s actually a lightweight option!

I set my face with the Fenty Beauty Instant Retouch Setting Powder. This is such a soft setting powder that really makes the skin look smoothed out and perfected. If you have oily skin then it probably wouldn’t be enough; but for me it’s so perfect. I haven’t used this lately as I’ve been all about the Too Faced loose powders, but I’ll definitely remember to reach for this one more.
To bronze/contour I used the Rimmel Sculpting Palette. I literally used this every single day for a long time! My favourite section was always the bronzer, though the highlighter is good too. It’s a great affordable option which is pigmented and pretty blendable as long as you don’t add too much. I do have better options in my makeup collection now, but this is still nice.
For Blusher I reached for one of my all time favourites – Rimmel Mono Blush in Santa Rose. It’s such a nice dusky pink/peach shade and I still don’t have anything similar. It’s also the perfect level of pigmented! I stopped using this daily as it was discontinued and I didn’t want to finish it… such a stupid reason but I don’t want to waste it…

To highlight I used the L’oreal True Match Liquid Highlighter in Icy Glow, which is another of my old favourite products that appears to have been discontinued! This was the first highlighter I bought and it was all I used for a long time – I loved it! I don’t tend to go for liquid highlights now. This didn’t give me as much of a glow as I remembered it doing for some reason; so I decided to add another old favourite – the Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Charming Pink. I loved this highlighter so much, and using it again reminded me how great it is. It gives you such a nice glow that doesn’t look over the top or glittery.
To complete the makeup look I reached for the NYX Suede Matte Lipstick in Rose The Day. This is such a lovely nude which is long lasting, semi matte and super comfortable. It looks as though they don’t sell this shade anymore, but they do have lots of other shades that look pretty!
Finally I used the Superdrug Vitamin E Hydrating Mist as a setting spray. I used to do this all the time to mesh all the products together, and it was so nice as my skin used to be very dry. These days my skin isn’t as dry as I am so much better with my skincare. This is still nice if I want extra dewy skin, but mostly a normal setting spray (such as the Morphe one) is absolutely fine.

That’s all of my ‘old favourite’ products I used for this look. It was fun using some of the things I’ve neglected lately. What products were you obsessed with years ago? Let me know!

Jazmin xx

I haven’t seen a NYX suede lipstick in what seems like years! I also really want to try the Estee Lauder concealer since the foundation is one of the most hyped up high-end foundations I’ve ever seen (which I’ve also not tried because of the price point!).

Literally the NYX Suede lipsticks seem to have fallen off the planet! But they’re so lovely. Estee Lauder concealer is such a nice option. I’m obsessed with the foundation, it is one high end foundation I don’t mind spending on now I know I love it x

I recently fell back in love with the YSL touché eclat pen. Forgot how good it was and love it now that I’ve gone back to low coverage make up.

Love your eye makeup here! Such an Autumnal look. It’s funny how you hear LOADSSS about a product for ages and then it just stops. The Prism Palette is so pretty!

Thank you! It’s a pretty palette right? I’m surprised the hype died down quite quickly x

Love this look! Also love how light the YSL foundation is. My skin doesn’t seem to like Estee Lauder very much!
