October Favourites 2020

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all holding up well. Here in the UK we are heading back into another lockdown this week, and I’m not sure what that means for me regarding work. It’s such a crazy uncertain time, so make sure you look after yourself and check in with loved ones regularly.
Today I want to share my October Favourites. I haven’t got a tonne of products to discuss this month as I haven’t been using TOO many new things. Next month I will hopefully have a few new things to discuss as I have just got a bunch of new products from work!
If you want to see what I was loving in October and I have to talk about today then just keep reading.

Too Faced Born This Way Matte Foundation (£29)
I recently spoke about this newly launched foundation in my ‘trying new products’ post, so I won’t go into too much detail. However, I have fallen in love with this foundation and I know it’s going to be one of my long term faves that I can’t go without. Although it is marketed as a matte foundation, I don’t find it to be a FULL matte, it is more a semi matte which isn’t drying or flat looking on my skin. It gives me a full coverage without looking thick or heavy, and also lasts all day. It even lasts better under masks than most foundations. I really recommend trying this foundation as it is definitely the best one I’ve tried in a while, and for a premium foundation the price point isn’t bad.

Huda Beauty Nude Obsessions Rich Eyeshadow Palette (£27)
Huda beauty make some of the nicest eyeshadows in the premium market in my opinion. The quality is really one of the best I have tried. They are super creamy, blendable and pigmented. I have been using the Nude Obsessions Rich palette a lot lately as it is super compact, easy to throw on a quick but pretty look in the morning, and the shades are really nice for Autumn! For £27 I am definitely going to pick up another of the small Huda palettes as I think they are so worth the price. They perform amazingly and store really easily too.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (£26)
I have had this setting spray in my makeup collection for a while but I haven’t reached for it so much until October. I know this is a super popular setting spray to increase the longevity of makeup, and now I can see why. I usually use setting sprays to allow powders to melt into the skin nicely for a natural skin like finish, as opposed to making makeup last longer. However, with having to wear masks everyday, I thought I would give this a go to see if I could get my makeup last longer. This spray definitely does allow my makeup to last longer and I find it doesn’t rub off on my mask as easy. I’ll definitely continue reaching for this one on days I need my makeup to last.

Liz Earle Calming Botanical Drops (£26)
I received this one from work only a couple of weeks ago, but since then I have used it daily and I love it so much, so I definitely had to mention it in this favourites post. I originally thought these drops were going to be oil based, but they are actually super lightweight and more of a gel consistency. Sometimes, particularly in winter, my skin can feel a little irritated, so I knew it would benefit from something calming like these drops. You can mix these in with a moisturiser, or you can apply directly onto your skin. If you struggle with redness or irritation I recommend these drops. My skin genuinely feels instantly calmed after using these and more hydrated.. likely due to the glycerin! It is a really nice step in my skincare routine.

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask (£33)
I love masking – it definitely feels like a form of self care! Recently I’ve learnt a little more about skincare ingredients and I now know that clay masks, which are super popular right now, aren’t the best option for me. My skin is more normal to dry, so more often than not I am not going to benefit from clay masks. Instead I need to look at hydrating masks, and that is where this Clinique Moisture Surge overnight mask comes in! This one is super hydrating and leaves skin looking dewy and silky soft in the morning. I only have the mini of this and I am almost all out now, so I need to pick up the bigger size soon.

That’s everything for my October Favourites. What kind of things have you been using lately? Let me know in the comments!

Definitely need to try the Born This Way matte, I never tried the original one because it was always marketed as ‘hydrating’ and I don’t like the dewy look as much. Nice to hear that it’s demi-matte as well – I currently use the Maybelline Superstay which is full coverage and also demi-matte, definitely my favourite finish!

I love BTW Matte, would deffo recommend it! The original one isn’t hydrating in my opinion, it’s a natural skin like finish, but it isn’t a full coverage, it’s more medium so I don’t like it so much, and it doesn’t last very well on my skin. I used to like that Maybelline Superstay foundation – I need to use it again x

I’ve been wanting to try the Too Faced foundation for so long, but I’m so bad at finding my shade! Might have to re-visit this after lockdown 2.0…

It’s such a lovely one. Deffo go get shade matched when you’re able too! x
