Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer | Review

Hey everyone, I hope that you’re all doing well and that lockdown three is treating you okay (if you’re in the UK). I am trying my best to see the positives and spending all the extra time in the house working on my blog & my new YouTube channel. Today I want to review the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. This is a product I have owned for quite a while now & the more I use it the more I love it. I think it deserves more hype so I want to share my thoughts!

Overview

As the name suggests this Clinique Beyond Perfecting product is a two in one foundation and concealer. (Personally I use it as a foundation paired with other concealers). This one boasts ‘full coverage’ with a ‘natural’ skin like finish. Clinique claim that all skin types can use this Beyond Perfecting foundation.

Clinique say that this provides a ‘two-in-one solution for truly flawless looking skin.’ They say that the ‘Magic Wand’ applicator allows for an easy all over or targeted application.

The packaging is a simple glass bottle with a doe foot style applicator. It comes in a box too.

The Beyond Perfecting foundation + concealer will cost you £29 for 30ml, which is a fairly standard price for a high end brand. There are 32 shades of this on the Clinique website. I have mine in the shade ‘CN 02 Breeze’ which is classed as ‘very fair’. It is actually slightly darker than my skin tone.

Review
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I am a fan of this Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer, and the more I use it the more I love it. Although Clinique say this gives a ‘natural’ finish, I think it airs slightly more on the hydrating/dewy side. I have normal to dry skin and (with a hydrating primer underneath) this definitely comes off as hydrating. So if you have a drier skin I think you could still use this. If you have a particularly oily skin, you would likely need a matte primer & good setting powder.

This does provide full coverage as Clinique claim. I use the wand to swipe directly onto my skin. I know some people aren’t huge fans of these wand applicators due to hygiene etc. Personally I don’t mind them… I use wand applicators every day with concealer so I can’t see how this is any different.

This lasts really well throughout the day! It doesn’t go patchy on my skin, and whilst it of course does fade after a full day of wear, it still looks good at the end of the day. My natural oils manage to come through a little which I personally love. I do use hydrating primers & setting sprays though.

If you can, I definitely recommend going getting shade matched in a store (only when life is more normal) or use the website Findation to help you choose a shade. Looking online the shades are a bit confusing. For example my shade ‘Breeze’ is classed as ‘very fair’ and looks lighter on the website than it does on my skin. I would not say it is very fair. It’s slightly too dark for me, but I can definitely get away with it luckily.

If you’re looking for a fool proof, skin like foundation that has full coverage and will last a long time then I really do recommend the Beyond Perfecting foundation! I love Clinique makeup & their range is well worth checking out.

Have you used this one? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below, I would love to know.

I am wearing Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer here.

Thanks so much for reading.

This looks nice!! I’m always too scared to try different foundations – I’ve used Revlon Colorstay for years. I tried Estee Lauder double wear, that stuff is some serious full coverage haha! Because I’m happy with Revlon and it’s cheaper – sometimes I get two colours and mix them – I just can’t justify trying higher priced ones, I’m too scared I won’t like them! It’s not so bad now, but my skin used to be so oily so I would never know what the foundation would look like after a couple hours – it’s settled a bit now though!

I still haven’t tried the Revlon colorstay though I’ve heard sooo many good things about it, so maybe it’s time I give it a go! Ah, I’ve never really had oily skin! Some foundations make my skin looks so dry and flat though so I understand the issue of being scared you won’t like a new foundation xxx

This sounds like a lovely foundation. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while and this review may have convinced me! I’ll have to see if they have a darker shade than the one you used as I’m super pale and you said it’s a little dark on you! I also personally love doe foot applicators so this would be fab for me 🙂 xx

This sounds like a good one! I’m not a huge fan of this kind of applicator with foundation but I usually put foundation on the back of my hand rather than straight on my skin anyway so it doesn’t make much difference in that sense. It looks really good on you! It does look quite dark in the bottle considering the shade name! I’m glad you managed to make it work though x

It’s such a lovely one I really recommend checking it out. I guess the applicator won’t matter too much if you pop it on your hand first anyway, as you said! Definitely have a proper look at the shades before purchasing if you decide to give it a go. It is darker than the name suggests! but they do have a few lighter options 🙂 x
