January Favourites 2021!

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! so I am a little later than usual with my monthly favourites, but I still wanted to share my January favourites with you. I discovered quite a few products in January in both skincare & makeup! If you want to find out what kind of things I’ve been enjoying lately then please keep reading.

SKINCARE

Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes & Lips (£19 for 125ml)
So for a while I have wanted to try a new makeup remover specifically for eyes. I have a couple mascaras in my makeup collection that can be a little difficult to remove, and some days I wear heavy eye makeup. This mini Clinique one was given to me as part of a gift from a friend for my birthday on the first of Jan! I have really liked this one and I found that it has removed all my eye makeup, including things I tend to find hard to remove. I’m definitely wanting to get the full size of this, so I wanted to speak about this one in my January favourites!

Dr Dennis Gross Stress Rescue Super Serum (£75 for 30ml)
This is another skincare product that I have been trying out a mini version of in January! I got this one in the Cult Beauty advent calendar during December. When I am stressed out, that’s when my skin is at its worse – it tends to break out more & become more red. So I liked the idea of this serum and I have found my skin has reacted really well to it. Lately, my skin has been so much clearer, less red & fresher! I think I owe this to a couple of products, but I definitely think my skin likes this serum. This is the first product I have used which has niacinamide, and since using this I want to test out that ingredient more – I know it’s super popular. I’ve really been enjoying this, and I would be tempted to purchase the full size… but I haven’t decided if it’s truly worth that £75 price tag.

Votary Super Seed Facial Oil (£70 for 50ml)
For a long time, I really didn’t have any interest in facial oils at all. I hated that oily feeling despite having a drier skin type. However, I have been testing out a couple & I am really loving them at the moment, and I think my skin feels softer when I use a facial oil. I also got this product in the Cult Beauty calendar. I only use this in the evening, but I have absolutely fallen in love with this product. The ingredient list seems very impressive – I am no expert but it seems packed full of ingredients great for the skin, without a tonne of irritants. It is also fragrance free which I love. This Votary oil is very nourishing for the skin, it makes my skin feel more plumped, balanced and even. This is another great option if you have ‘stressed out’ skin. When I wake up my skin isn’t as dry and tight, it more soft & plump. This is one of my best finds this month, so of course it had to be in my January favourites!

SOS SPF 50 Sun Serum (£15.50 for 50ml)
I have been wanting to try this SPF for a while now, since Fleur De Force spoke about it on a Youtube video! I got an amazon gift voucher for my birthday, so I thought I may as well finally purchase this. I am really glad I did as I have been loving this, and using it every single day. I love that this doesn’t feel very heavy & greasy on the skin like some SPF’s can. It sinks into the skin pretty quickly. It also doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin either. Of course as well all know, SPF is really important so I am glad I’ve found one I really like which also doesn’t break the bank. I will definitely be repurchasing this once I’ve used it up.

MAKEUP

Urban Decay All Nighter Face Primer (£27)
I have had this sitting in my makeup drawers for quite a few months now after I got it from a work beauty conference, and I just wasn’t very excited by it. Urban Decay is a brand I haven’t really experimented with very much. However, in January I finally started to try this one out properly & I’ve really been loving it. It feels nice and moisturising on the skin, smoothing it out ever so slightly too – overall it improves the appearance of the skin and creates a good base for makeup. I genuinely believe this increases the longevity of my makeup, which I think a lot of primers don’t really do! This grips my makeup well. I have so many primers in my makeup collection, but I have been reaching for this one the most lately, which shows me how much I am loving it.

Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer  (£18) AND Clinique Pop Splash Lip Gloss (£18)
I thought I would speak about these two together as I have worn them together every time, and I got them in the same set as a gift for my birthday. I love Clinique as a brand, and I speak about them quite a lot on my blog, however I hadn’t tried any of the lip products. So when I received these as a gift I was really excited. I got 3 lipsticks and 2 mini glosses. My favourites have been Mocha Pop lipstick & Coconut Pop lip gloss (photographed), however I have really liked all of them! The lipsticks are full colour pigment, but a very creamy comfortable finish. They stay on very well though unlike some other creamy lipsticks. The gloss is also amazing – it isn’t sticky at all, but adds a lot of shine and gloss onto the lips, along with hydration which is a great bonus. I used Mocha Pop & Coconut Pop in my last blog post which was a simple glam makeup look, so check that out if you’d like to see what they look like on! I definitely need to check out more lip products from Clinique.

Too Faced Better Than Sex False Lashes in Drama Queen (£14)
Finally in my January favourites I wanted to speak about these new Too Faced false lashes! I picked these up along with some other new launches from Too Faced (I reviewed an eyeshadow palette, Kitty Likes To Scratch if you want to see my thoughts on that too) and I was pretty impressed with everything. These lashes have probably been my favourite product from the little Too Faced haul. They are quite dramatic, but they’re not too over the top so they don’t overpower my eye at all. Instead they look really glam! The band is pretty thin, so they’re easy to stick on and they stay on well without popping off/coming loose. At £14, I suppose they are slightly pricey for a lash, but if you look after them well you can get a good amount of wears out of them. If you’d like to see my whole ‘Too Faced Haul’ then I have a YouTube video testing out all the bits I picked up here.

That’s everything for my January favourites. I hope that you enjoyed this post. Please let me know below what you have been loving lately!

Great mix of products this month! I used to love the Clinique lips, lids and lashes, it’s absolutely incredible for stubborn eye makeup. I have the SOS SPF too and I’ve been really enjoying it so far, I love that it doesn’t mess with my makeup too much or take forever to absorb x
