Hey everyone, I hope you’re all having a great bank holiday weekend in the sun we’ve been blessed with! I’ve been super busy the past two days enjoying the weather as well as doing a deep clean of the flat. I’m finally able to sit down and write a new post. Today’s post is all about the best longwear foundations. Since I work fairly long shifts, I need to make sure the foundation I apply in the morning is still going strong at the end of the day. Here are my absolutely favourite options including two drugstore options and two high end options.
DRUGSTORE
NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop (£15)
I was definitely on the fence with this foundation for a while, however I cannot argue that it isn’t long wearing! When my skin is feeling particularly dry I don’t opt for this because I find it can dry the skin out further. However if you have an oily skin type I think this one is ideal for you. I love it on days where my skin is feeling a bit more normal. This one stays on through the day so well (as all these foundations do) giving you a full coverage matte finish. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and it doesn’t oxidise! The shade range is pretty good and I have managed to find a great match in porcelain (though I’m currently working through a bottle of light porcelain as I bought the wrong shade last time by accident, oops). At £15 I suppose it is more expensive than some drugstore foundations but it is a great option if you don’t want to go for something double the price from a premium brand!
Maybelline Superstay (£10.99)
This one has been reformulated since I purchased it and now claims 30hr wear instead of 24hr wear. I am hoping the new formula is just as long wearing as this one. I love this because it stays on really well throughout the day whilst also allowing a few natural oils to come through looking healthy on the skin (but not too much). This foundation definitely oxidises quite a lot, so bare that in mind when choosing a shade. I have mine in the shade light beige which is a bit too pink and oxidises to be too dark, but I can get away with it! I’ll definitely repurchase this in the new formula and share my thoughts when I have used this up.
HIGH END
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place (£34)
This is a classic best selling foundation and for good reason! It has been my favourite for years. If I am ever looking for a foundation that I know can take me from morning til evening, for example if I am going out after work, then this is the foundation I will pick! It stays on SO well and is fool proof. This provides full coverage with a ‘fresh’ matte finish – I think it looks like a satin matte. I think all skin types can get away with this one too which is a huge bonus. The shade range is really impressive and it won’t oxidise. I have mine in the shade Porcelain 1N0 and it’s a great match for me. I think out of all of these foundations, this one is the most long wearing.
Too Faced Born This Way Matte (£29)
I have raved about this one quite a lot lately on my blog as it is a ‘newer’ launch and discovery for me. I was not a big fan of the original born this way, however this matte one is probably my most used foundation at the moment! It lasts ALL day but also looks really natural on the skin giving a medium-full coverage. It claims to be matte, however I actually think it is more of a skin like finish. It’s super light weight and probably one of my most ‘undetectable’ foundations that actually stays put looking flawless and natural! Mine is in the shade Swan and it works well without oxidising, though it is slightly more yellow than I would usually go for.
SWATCHES
Those are my top four foundations if you’re looking for something long wearing!
Have you tried any of these? please leave any recommendations for long wearing foundations for me in the comments!
