Algenist Alive Prebiotic Balancing Mask | Review

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to share a skincare review here on my blog today as I’ve not spoken too much about skincare lately, but I love it so much! I received this Algenist Alive Prebiotic Balancing Mask around Christmas last year in the Cult Beauty Advent calendar, however I only very recently used it! If you’re interested to hear my thoughts on this one, then just keep reading.

OVERVIEW
For 50ml, the Algenist Alive Prebiotic mask costs £38 which is quite pricey. However you only use masks like this at most 3 times a week (less if you’re me) so it will last a long time for that price.

Algenist say this is a ‘balancing, hydrating and detoxifying formulation’ which will ‘leave your complexion clearer and more content in just 3 to 5 minutes’. They say ‘on application, this mask transforms from mint green to pink, leaving your complexion more even, clarified and radiant, whilst also helping skin to be more resistant to pollution and signs of ageing.’

This mask contains probiotics and prebiotics from algae which helps to balance the skins bacteria. It also has alguronic acid which helps to hydrate the skin.

The packaging of this is classic and pretty. It comes in a frosted glass jar with a pink lid. The box is a gorgeous shift from mint green to pink, just like the actual mask!

REVIEW
I have used the Algenist Alive Prebiotic Balancing mask three times now, so I can’t say too much about the long term results, however I wanted to share a review of this one anyway!

The texture of this mask is quite unusual, I was expecting a classic ‘clay mask’ type texture, however it has a mousse like consistency. It is a mint green colour, however as you massage it into the skin it turns into a light pink colour and loses that mousse like texture and instead is a glossy wetter texture.

I like that you only leave this mask on for 3-5 minutes as it is quick and convenient. This timeframe also doesn’t allow the mask to completely dry down like other ‘clay’ masks. This means it doesn’t dry the skin out.

I definitely think that this mask gives a more balanced and revived appearance to skin immediately after use, so it is a great one to use to prep the skin before an event etc. My complexion looks clearer and feels soft and smooth!

This mask is so nice for a self care pamper moment and the results are really nice too. If you’re looking for a mask that doesn’t take up too much time and gives your skin a boost immediately after use, then I recommend this one. It is definitely pricey, but for the right person it is ideal!

I hope that you’ve found this review helpful, please let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Jazmin xx
