Blogmas day 15: Winter face care routine

Some of you may have seen my regular face care routine post which is up on my blog, but I thought as part of Blogmas I would do an updated version for the colder months. I’m sure we all have experienced our skin suffering because of the weather, I definitely have. Having dry sensitive skin at the best of times means in the Winter everything is much worse! But I have got a great skin care routine that works for me and helps my skin feel more hydrated when it most needs it.

Step one

I remove my makeup using the Johnson’s Makeup Be Gone refreshing wipes for normal skin. At first I wasn’t so keen on these wipes because they felt a little greasy and I probably wouldn’t use them if I was to just take my makeup off and go straight to bed as I wouldn’t want to leave all that extra grease on there. However, they’re actually perfect for me since my skins super dry and I follow this step with others which will take away that grease.

Step two

Next I go in with Nivea micellar water for dry skin on a little cotton pad. This is just to remove any extra makeup that the wipes didn’t get! I’m always amazed at the makeup that comes off when doing this step when I’m almost certain the wipe has took it all off already.

Step three

Next is the face washing part! Make sure you use lukewarm water as too hot or cold can actually damage the skin. I use Superdrug gentle foaming facial wash (for dry skin) first, then I use Superdrug gentle creamy cleanser (for dry skin). I spoke about these products in my last face care routine post so I won’t go on about it too much but these products are amazing! They are super cheap and very effective and I have definitely seen an improvement whilst using these. They don’t have all the added chemicals that A LOT of face products have so they don’t irritate my skin like most things I’ve used in the past. I can’t see myself ever using anything else.
Once I’ve used these I make sure I have completely rinsed my face.

Step four

Again, I go in with the Nivea micellar water to remove any product that might still be on my skin as leaving anything on there can cause a break out. Better safe than sorry!

Step five

I use the Nivea soft moisturiser. I have a review on this here, which you can check out if you’re interested.

Step six

My lips get sooo dry in the Winter and I hate it! Every other night I use a Lush lip scrub on my lips (I have the bubblegum one). I then apply a lip balm (either Vaseline or Lush at the min) and I do the lip balm every single night and a couple of times through the day as well usually.

That’s it! Quite simple really, I don’t use too many products as I don’t think it’s very good for the skin to apply loads of different things on it every night. I’ve found this routine perfect for me and if you have dry sensitive skin it might work for you too.
