NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Foundation Review

Hey everyone,

I know how late I am with this one.. but today I want to review the massively hyped up NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop foundation. I purchased this in January and have wore it most days since so I think I’ve used it enough to give you all a full opinion on it! Despite the fact I featured this in my January favourites, my views may have slightly changed.. So if you’re interested, just keep reading.

Overview & Claims
This NYX foundation comes in 45 different shades which is definitely impressive. There are a variety of undertones so you should be able to find something that works for you!
A 30ml bottle of this will cost £15 – which is more expensive than drugstore foundations, but less than high end, which is basically what I’d expect from NYX.

NYX describe this as ‘lightweight, waterproof & pigmented AF’. It is said to be a comfortable full coverage foundation, that will glide on smoothly and stay true to colour for 24 hours. NYX say this is a matte finish foundation that will control shine. It is targeted at people with normal, oily, combination and sensitive skin.

Review
As will all of my foundations I apply this with a foundation brush. I have been wearing it mostly over a dewy primer such as the NYX Honey Dew Me Up or the Revolution Superfruit Extract.
I have found that it is best to apply this foundation to different sections of your face at a time – rather than applying all over and then blending it out. It is dries down fast, so you need to get it blended out quickly. Therefore it isn’t the easiest to apply and needs to be worked with. As suggested by NYX the finish is super matte and it definitely provides full coverage. If you’re into a very matte finish then you will like this, however it’s so matte that it looks quite flat on the face. This isn’t a foundation that you can build up in my opinion as it becomes cakey easily, however this isn’t much of an issue as the coverage doesn’t need building up for me.
However, sometimes this foundation looks cakey on me without building it up at all, the reason is being that it sticks to any dry patches, even ones I didn’t know I had. But NYX haven’t said that this foundation is suitable for dry skin, and it really isn’t. My skin is somewhere between normal and dry, and I was hoping I could get away with this foundation.
For the first couple of weeks wearing this, I did really like it! The colour is great and doesn’t oxidize. The staying power is excellent and it controls any shine so well. But now I’ve been wearing it consistently for over a month, it has definitely dried my skin out and has started to make my face look like the Sahara Desert. And as I said, clinging to any little dry patch and highlights any texture!
If you have oilier skin though and want a matte finish full coverage look, this could be amazing for you!

NYX can't stop won't stop

NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop after 4 hours wear. If you look closely you can see the dry patches on my chin and a little around my nose.

Pros
– Shade range
– Staying/lasting powder
– Doesn’t oxidize
– Controls shine & stays matte
– Full coverage

Cons
– Drying / clings to patches
– A bit hard to apply
– Not for dry skin
– Looks flat and a little ‘powdery’ on the skin
– Can highlight texture

Overall, I think this is an amazing foundation for the right person, but that just sadly isn’t me. If you have even slightly dry skin, I wouldn’t recommend this for you. But for anyone else looking for a matte full coverage foundation, this could be perfect for you!

I will use this bottle up on hot days, but I doubt I’ll be repurchasing!

Thanks for stopping by,

Jazmin xx

Bummer about the dry patches. That and looking powdery on my face are usually deal breakers.

I bought this foundation in the Buff and Natural shades and it is so very yellow. I regret wasting my money,
